IEEE emeritbadges.org Program
The IEEE emeritbadges.org program has developed hands-on electricity and electronics instructional material based on the Boy Scouts' merit badge requirements. Instructional material for computer education is being developed. Any student, boy or girl can use the program to enhance technical literacy and learn more about viable engineering and other technical career options.  The IEEE emeritbadges.org program will be sponsoring the Electricity Merit Badge and the Electronics Merit Badge booth at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree.

“Energizing Global Youth Towards Engineering Careers”

The IEEE emeritbadges.org Project provides instructional material and kits to support the Electricity Merit Badge and the Electronics Merit Badge. We are the sponsor of the Electricity Merit Badge Booth and the Electronics Merit Badge Booth at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. We are a global pre-university technology education program for students delivered primarily through Scouting merit badge programs.

The IEEE emeritbadges.org program:

  • Developed hands-on electricity and electronics instructional material based on the Boy Scout merit badge requirements
  • Can be used by any student, boy or girl, to enhance technical literacy
  • Teaches students about viable engineering and other technical career options
  • Brings scientific discovery to young students

The IEEE emeritbadges.org Project is an expansion of an IEEE pre-college education program that started in 1981 with the sponsorship of the Electronics Merit Badge Booth at the 1981 National Scout Jamboree held at Fort A. P. Hill, VA USA. Since 1981 the IEEE has provided leadership for the Electricity and Electronics Merit Badge Booths at the National Scout Jamborees held in 1981, 1985, 1989, 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005.

The next use of the new global pre-college electronics and electricity education material and hands-on kits will be at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree in Caroline County, VA, USA from 26 July 2010 to 4 August 2010.

Mission Statement

The project is designed to reach global pre-university students and educators in support of the overall goal of “enhancing the level of technological literacy of pre-university educators and students worldwide.” The project will:

  • Enhance the level of technical literacy among pre-university students and promote engineering and other technical professions as viable career options.
  • Increase the public awareness of engineers and engineering.
  • Help society to develop technologically literate citizens and assist in providing a future technology based workforce.

Misión (or Nuestra Misión or Misión del Proyecto)
