Weather during the 2010 National Scout Jamboree is usually HOT and HUMID! A Central Virginia day during the Jamboree can be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and 100% humidity. Afternoon thunderstorms at the Jamboree are common. Monitor weather forecasts at this site before traveling to the Jamboree and come prepared for hot, humid and possibly severe weather.

2010 National Scout Jamboree weather tips:

  1. Get in shape. Activities at the Jamboree are strenuous. It is a long way from the parking lot to just about every activity.
  2. Plan on walking to the Jamboree activities. There are buses but they are usually packed. Wear a good pair of walking shoes. Open toed shoes or flip-flops are not a good idea.
  3. Bring rain gear.
  4. Drink plenty of water. This advice is from personal experience of not drinking enough water and ending up in a Jamboree medical tent. Don't bring or buy sodas.
  5. Know how to respond to weather emergencies such as thunderstorms, hail, lightning, tornados, extreme heat, and hurricanes.
